Formula Student is an international competition which promotes excellence in the automotive field and provides students from around the world to compete in the design, implementation and promotion of a small car. Born in 1981 in the United States on the initiative of SAE, Society of Automotive Engineers, has spread in Europe under the name of Formula Student in collaboration with IMEC, Institution of Mechanical Engineers. Today the competition is for students to practice a test to work in teams, under pressure and subject to strict deadlines. It is not just a student competition, but a challenge between potential new talent for mechanical engineering and this attracts universities from around the world, representing an opportunity to marry the academic activities with the development of practical skills.
